September 1980  - Traveled to Montreal, Canada to run the Montreal Marathon.

September 1982 - Attended 6th International Conference on Computer Communications (ICCC'82 Conference), Barbarian Center London, England. Visit to Standard Telecommunications Laboratory in Harrow, England (Development of Solid State Optical Amplifiers).

April 1983 - Attended Communications and Electronics Conference (ICCC'83), Heidelberg, Germany.
 
June 1983 - USCGNET Program (evaluation of multiplexer vendors) Visit to Paris, Stuttgart, Munich Nuremberg, Darmstadt, Heidelberg and NATO SHAPE, Mons, Belgium.

August 1983 - Technical Meeting with  TAKADE in Nuremberg , on USCGNET Multiplexers.  Heidelberg and Nuremberg,

September 1983 Acquired USCGNET Equipment from TAKADE in Nuremberg, Germany. Visit to Nuremberg and Heidelberg, Germany.  Visit to Berlin, Germany to run in the Berlin Marathon.

December 1983 - Bench testing of USCGNET Hardware, in Worms and Heidelberg, Germany.  Went Cross Country Skiing in Garmisch, Germany.
 
March 1984 - '84 Crested Eagle Exercise, with 5th Army, in Heidelberg, Worms and Siegen Germany.  Fasching Celebration and Rosenmontag Parade in Mainz Germany.

April 1984 - Attended ICCC'84 Conference in Heidelberg Germany and then vacationed in Heidelberg, Germany, Strasbourg, France, Zurich, Switzerland,  Innsbruck, Vienna and Salzburg, Austria, Garmisch and Munich Germany. Ran the Munich Marathon in Munich, Germany. 

March 1985 - Installation of a Fiber Optic LAN at the Warrior Preparation Center, Kaiserslautern, Germany.  Fasching Celebration in Kaiserslautern.

June 1985 - Installation of Demonstration LAN at HQ USAREUR Heidelberg, Germany.  Visit to Baden-Baden.  Traveled to Stuttgart, Germany and NATO SHAPE, Mons, Belgium.

August 1985 - Examination of possible LAN Expansion at Warrior Preparation Center Kaiserslautern, Germany. Overnight visit to London, England.

September 1986 - ICCC'86 Conference in Munich, Germany and stayed in Garmisch Germany. Attended the October Fest in Munich and Visited Venice, Italy.

April 1987 - Discussions with the Icelandic Post and Telegraph (IPT) on the possible use of fiber optics as an alternative to microwave to provide connectivity between the NATO  Long Range Radars and the Air  Control Center in Keflivick Naval Air Station in Iceland.  The IPT is located in Reykjavik, Iceland.

September 1987 - Discussions with Iceland Post and Telegraphic on the integration of the Iceland Air Defense System (IADS) requirements into the developing National Icelandic Fiber Optic Cable plant. Reykjavik, Iceland.

June 1988 - Attended the European Military Fiber Optic Conference (E-MFOC'88) in Amsterdam, Holland.  Traveled to NKT in Copenhagen, Denmark to discuss possible optical hardware for the Icelandic Fiber Optic Network.

September 1988 - Screening Meeting with the Working Group 18 Radar Committee, NATO Headquarters, Brussels, Belgium, with a short layover in London, England.
 
December 1988 - Final Screening Meeting with Working Group 18 Radar Committee, NATO Headquarters, Brussels, Belgium. Traveled to NKT in Copenhagen, Denmark to discuss Optical Network Hardware.

February 1989 - Vacation Trip to Bali, Indonesia and Singapore with a stop over in Japan. 

June 1989 - Attended the European Military Fiber optic Conference (E-MFOC'89) in Amsterdam, Holland. Took a number side trips to various towns in Holland.

October 1989 - Kick-off Meeting on Icelandic Air Defense System  (IADS) Fiber Optic Network at Icelandic Post and Telegraph (IPT) Reykjavik, Iceland.

May 1989 - Meeting with NKT in Copenhagen Denmark and then attended a Preliminary Design Review with Iceland Post and Telegraph on Icelandic Air Defense System integration with their National Fiber Optic Network, Reykjavik Iceland.  

June 1990 - Attended the European Military Fiber Optic Conference (E-MFOC'90) in Munich, Germany.  Then took a short vacation trip to Austria, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Turkey.

 August 1990 - Meeting with British Telecom Research Labs, Martlesham Heath, England.  Traveled to the IADS Radar Site H2 and traveled through the Northern and Eastern Coast of Iceland, from Akureyri to Egilsstadir,  Iceland.

February 1991 - Program Review Meeting with IPTA on the IADS Fiber Optic Network in Reykjavik, Iceland.

March 1991 - Attended the First Soviet Fiber Optic Conference (FSFOC'91) in Leningrad, USSR. Visited the Soviet Academy of Science and met with the graduate Electrical Engineering students at the Leningrad University. Also took a short trip to  Moscow, USSR.

June 1991 - Attended the European Fiber Optic Conference and Local Area Network Conference (EFOC/LAN'91) at Regent's College, London, England.  Attended a meeting with Plessey Research, Caswell England.

November 1991 - Vacationed in the Costa Del Sol in Spain. Visits to Madrid, Granada, Seville and Cordoba, Spain, Gibraltar, and Tangiers, Morocco.

January 1992 - Attended the Line Terminal and Multiplexing Equipment Vendor Selection, Final Design Review at IPTA Facility on the IADS FON. Reykjavik, Iceland.

November 1992 - Program design review and O&M Discussions on the IADS Fiber Optic Network in Reykjavik, Iceland.

January 1993 - Vacation to Western Caribbean. Visit to Cozumal, Mexico, Grand Cayman Islands, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Coco Cay, Bahamas.

June 1993 - Integration testing of IADS hardware at the IPTA Laboratories in Reykjavik, Iceland. Trip to the Vestmannaeyjar Islands Iceland.

November 1993 - Program Review Meeting with IPTA on the IADS Fiber Optic Network Reykjavik, Iceland. Inspection trips to Borgarnes and Budardalur.

January 1994 - Final Acceptance Test Series at Iceland Post and Telegraph in Reykjavik, Iceland. Visited the H1 Radar Site in Hofn, Iceland.

May 1994 - First International Conference &  Exhibition Devoted to Practical Applications of Fiber Optics in China (China Fibercom'94) Shanghai University of Science & Technology, Jading, Shanghai, China.  Gave a paper and taught a half day seminar on Fiber Optic Networks at the conference. Traveled to Beijing, China.

July 1994 - Meeting on circuit availability and activation for the Peace Shield Program in Riyadh, Saudi, Arabia. Side trip to Diriyah Saudi Arabia.  Then inspected the Royal Saudi Air Force Site at Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia.  One day stop over in London, England on the way to Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

September 1994 - Final NATO Joint Inspection Trip to Iceland (JAFI) on the IADS Program. Inspection trips to Borganres, Budardalur, Hella and Vik, Iceland.

May 1996 - Gave Lectures at Queen University in Belfast, Northern Ireland and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.

August 1996 - Provided consulting services to ASEC on Link 2 of the Northern Extension of the Peace Shield Fiber Optic Network. Worked in Arar and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  Short stopover Zurich, Switzerland.

Februry 1997 - Provided consulting service to the Electronics Systems Division of the Air Force through MITRE to run final acceptance testing for the Peace Shield Fiber Optic Network in Saudi Arabia.  This testing  included Link 1 from Hafar Al-Batin to Rafha and Link 2 from Rafha to Arar.  Stayed in Riyadh and Arar.  Stopped for several days in Cairo Egypt on the return trip. Visits to Cairo, El Giza and Sakkara.

November 1997 - Vacationed in the Republic of Ireland.  Visited Dublin, Glendalough, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, the Cliffs of Moher and Limerick Ireland.

February 1998 - Vacationed in Hawaii.  Stayed in Honolulu and then  visited the Islands of Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Hawaii.
 
November 1998 - Vacationed in Greece.  Stayed in Vouliagmeni south of Athens.  Visited Athens, Delphi, Corinth, Mycenae and the Theater at Epidaurus.  Vist to the Saronic Islands of Poros, Hydra and Aegina.

August 2000 - Provided Consulting Services to ACS Defense, at Bell Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on a Global Satellite Network for the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  October 2000 - Vacation in Scotland.  Stayed in Dryman on Loch Loman outside of Glasgow.  Trips to Loch Ness, Inverness, Stirling, Edinburgh, Perth, the Isle of Mull and Ayr. 

  October 2001 - Vacationed in Tuscany,  Italy.  Stayed in Montecatini between Florence and Pisa.  Trips to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Viareggio, Venice, Montecatini, Alto, Senna, and San Gimiganano.

September 2002 - Provided Consulting services to ACS Defense in Riyadh and Al Kharj Air Base.  Taught Royal Saudi Air Force students Fiber Optic Multiplexing on PDH and SDH hardware. Stayed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

February 2005 - Vacation Cruise to Nassau and Coco Cay, Bahama Islands.

April 2006 - Vacation in Israel. Stayed in Jerusalem and Tiberius.  Trips to Bet Sheen, Capernaum, Tabgha, Nazareth, Megiddo, Casearea, Masada, Quran, Bethlehem, and Jericho.
 

January 2007 - Vacation Cruise to Nassau and Coco Cay, Bahama Islands.

November 2007 - Vacation in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.  Stayed in Cairns and Sydney Australia, Christchurch, Queenstown, Milford Sound and Auckland New Zealand, and Naviti Resort Korolevu, Fiji.

April 2008 - Vacation to Eastern Caribbean, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Charlotte, St. Thomas Islands; Philipsburg, St. Maarten.

September 2008 - Attended the IEEE 2008 Section Congress in Quebec City, Quebec Canada.
